DINING in Coffs Harbour is proving to be the best along the coast, with two local restaurants given accolades in the Restaurant and Catering Association Awards for Excellence in the Northern Region.

The Tandoori Oven on Harbour Drive was awarded Best Indian Restaurant.

Colin and Renee from Tandoori Oven, say that it really means a lot to be recognised with such a prestigious award.

“It really is a big deal, it’s really great to be rewarded for all the hard work we’ve put in,” says Colin.

Being the longest established single family restaurant on the jetty strip, its not hard to realise why Colin and his team at Tandoori Oven were awarded best in the region.

They are the only India Restaurant in the region, and one of very few in Australia, that uses an authentic charcoal fired Tandoor oven that imparts a unique flavour of its own.

Tandoori Oven prides itself on using only the freshest of ingredients, and offers an extensive and unique menu. “We
are often copied, but never equalled,” says Colin.

One of their most popular dishes is their crepe — either lamb or prawn curry that has been on the menu since 1985.

“It’s a great introduction to people who have never had Indian before, its very mild,” says Colin.

They also offer group bookings and parties that can be completely catered for, with several different menus to choose from. Their extensive menu has something for everyone, including vegetarians.

For the best Indian on the coast, head to Tandoori Oven on the jetty strip, open from 5.3Opm Monday to Saturday.
